Google is running a popularity contest.
Yep. Did you think the best web page just rose to the top of Google? That would make sense, but that’s just not how it works.
Google’s algorithm probably has over 100 weighted elements that are use to determine the rank of a web page returned for a search query.
It seems the two biggest are:
- Relativity- How close the page is related to the search query. The Google Bot will scan a page and try to determine what the page is about.
2. Backlinks- Backlinks are other web pages pointing to your web page with clickable links. Google sees other web pages pointing to yours and gets an idea that maybe you have something worth while.
